SAFe® Lean Portfolio Management Certification (LPM)

You can start right away. What you need: experience with agile at scale, because the course starts at portfolio level. Helpful: some contact with budget or portfolio decisions in your own organisation.

SAFe® LPM Course in Detail
Scaled Agile splits the course into seven lessons. They run from the purpose of lean portfolio management through strategy, epics and funding to flow inside the portfolio, and close on operations and governance.
01Introducing Lean Portfolio Management
The opening settles what no longer holds about classic project funding.

This is where the link between enterprise strategy and portfolio is made.

Scaled Agile issues the certification as a PDF and as a digital badge for your online profiles. This certification has to be renewed. The first year is included in the course price, and renewal with Scaled Agile costs USD 295 per year after that.

After the course the exam waits in your SAFe Studio account and is administered online by Scaled Agile rather than by tecnovy. Scaled Agile offers the exam in several languages, German among them. The exam language has to match the language you completed the course in.

FAQs
Frequently asked questions
01Does my organisation need SAFe in place before LPM makes sense?
Not entirely. The course builds on value streams and Agile Release Trains, but funding is often the first thing organisations change, because otherwise it keeps braking every change further down.
02Can I look things up in the SAFe Framework during the SAFe LPM exam?
No. Scaled Agile runs the exam closed book and names the Big Picture specifically as material you may not use. Notes, published material and help from another person are all excluded.
03Do I need prior knowledge for LPM?
Scaled Agile requires nothing formally but files the course at Advanced level and assumes familiarity with agile at scale. If you have never seen an Agile Release Train, Leading SAFe is the better start.
04Is LPM a course for the finance department?
Not exclusively, but finance leaders belong in it explicitly. The course covers lean budgets and guardrails, that is the rules under which investment can flow without case-by-case approval.
05What happens if I do not pass the SAFe LPM exam?
The tecnovy course price covers one exam attempt, as long as you use it within 60 days of the course ending. Every further attempt costs USD 50 with Scaled Agile.
06Does my SAFe LPM certification expire?
Yes, it has to be renewed, and that first year is included in the tecnovy course price. To renew it afterwards Scaled Agile charges USD 295 plus 24 continuing education units every year. Your SAFe Studio membership renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the cycle ends.
07What material do I get in the LPM training?
You get the course material in digital form and keep it permanently. Every flipchart worked out during the tecnovy training reaches you afterwards as a photo protocol.
