SAFe® POPM Course in Detail

The course follows one Program Increment from front to back. It starts at the two roles and how they work together, moves through preparing and running PI Planning to the work inside the iterations, and closes where the increment is delivered and assessed.

03Leading the PI Planning

Two days in which a whole train commits to shared objectives.

The longest part of the course: here the work shifts from planning to shaping things day by day.

05Closing the Program Increment

The closing part covers what actually happens to the output of a PI.

Frequently asked questions

01Can I look things up in the SAFe Framework during the SAFe POPM exam?

No. Scaled Agile runs the exam closed book and names the Big Picture specifically as material you may not use. Notes, published material and help from another person are all excluded.

02Is POPM meant for Product Owners or for Product Managers?

For both. Scaled Agile combines the two roles in one certification because they serve the same backlog from two altitudes inside an Agile Release Train. The tecnovy training works on both perspectives.

03Do I need prior knowledge for POPM?

No, Scaled Agile sets no formal admission requirements for the POPM certification. Hands-on time with a backlog helps you place the exercises in the tecnovy training more quickly.

04How does the SAFe Product Owner differ from the Scrum Product Owner?

The SAFe Product Owner works inside an Agile Release Train and aligns the backlog with several teams and with the Product Manager. In Scrum the role owns a backlog for a single team.

05What happens if I do not pass the SAFe POPM exam?

The tecnovy course price covers two exam attempts, as long as you use them within 60 days of the course ending. Every further attempt costs USD 50 with Scaled Agile.

06Does my SAFe POPM certification expire?

Yes, it has to be renewed, and that first year is included in the tecnovy course price. To renew it afterwards Scaled Agile charges USD 195 plus 12 continuing education units every year. Your SAFe Studio membership renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the cycle ends.

07What material do I get in the POPM training?

You get the course material in digital form and keep it permanently. Every flipchart worked out during the tecnovy training reaches you afterwards as a photo protocol.
