01Do I need a legal background for the AIGP training?
No, the tecnovy AIGP training explains the areas of law the body of knowledge covers, and the IAPP sets no formal admission requirements. The training does not replace legal advice for your organisation.
02How does the AIGP exam work?
The IAPP delivers AIGP through Pearson VUE, at a test centre or online through OnVUE and separately from the tecnovy training. You answer 100 multiple-choice questions, case studies among them, in 2 hours 45 minutes with a 15-minute break. You must sit the exam within one year of buying it.
03What score do I need to pass AIGP?
You need at least 300 on the IAPP's scale of 100 to 500 to pass AIGP, which the IAPP says does not represent 60 %. You see the result right after the exam. The per-domain percentages in the report cannot be averaged into an overall score.
04Can I take the AIGP exam in German?
No, the IAPP offers AIGP in English (as of November 2026). The IAPP names no extra time for non-native speakers; accommodations are available on request for candidates with a qualifying disability. The language of the tecnovy AIGP training is a separate matter.
05What happens if I do not pass the AIGP exam?
For another attempt you buy the AIGP exam again, at a discounted price for repeat candidates according to the IAPP. The new appointment can be no sooner than seven days after the previous attempt. The exam fee is not part of the tecnovy course price.
06How do I keep the AIGP certification active?
You show 20 hours of continuing professional education (CPE) per two-year term and either hold IAPP membership or pay the USD 250 certification maintenance fee; for non-members the first fee is included in the exam fee. According to the IAPP, membership costs USD 295 a year and includes the fee (as of November 2026). Instead of submitting CPE, you can also retake the exam.
07Does the AIGP exam reflect the 2026 amendments to the EU AI Act?
The AIGP exam follows Body of Knowledge 2.1, which the IAPP approved in September 2025, before amending Regulation (EU) 2026/1744. The tecnovy AIGP training covers the EU AI Act as amended, including high-risk obligations from 2 December 2027 (Annex III) and from 2 August 2028 (Annex I). The IAPP announces changes to the body of knowledge at least 90 days before they appear in the exam.
08Is the tecnovy training enough preparation for the AIGP exam?
The tecnovy AIGP training works through all four domains of the body of knowledge with case studies and practice questions, but it does not replace your own study. The IAPP recommends at least 30 hours of study and advises judging readiness by your grasp of every topic in the body of knowledge, not by completing a course.
09How does the AIGP training differ from the EU AI Act training?
tecnovy's EU AI Act training stays with the regulation itself: roles, risk classes, obligations, supervision and a compliance structure for your organisation, with no exam. The tecnovy AIGP training reaches further into privacy law, the NIST AI RMF and ISO standards, and prepares you for the IAPP exam.
