IREB is the International Requirements Engineering Board. It develops the CPRE certification program, including syllabi, handbooks, glossaries, and other learning resources.
CPRE stands for Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering. The target audience includes requirements engineers, business analysts, product owners, testers, UX/CX roles, and software and systems development professionals.
The roles are clearly separated: IREB defines the CPRE scheme and its content. Training providers such as tecnovy deliver the training. Certification bodies conduct the exams and issue the certificates. The organization that trains you does not examine you. This separation ensures objectivity.
For your career, CPRE is an established standard in the DACH region. Job postings for requirements engineers, business analysts, and product owners often list the Foundation certificate as a preferred or required qualification.

Mr. Siebenhofer has very impressive knowledge and explained it in a clear, practical way.
CPRE stands for Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering. Developed by IREB for people who work professionally with requirements: requirements engineers, business analysts, product owners, testers, UX/CX roles, plus software and systems development.
New to requirements engineering? Start with CPRE Foundation Level. Already completed Foundation? Pick a Practitioner module (Elicitation, Management, Modeling, or RE@Agile). Focused on AI in RE? AI4RE is the right entry point.
No. CPRE Foundation Level has no formal entry requirements. Take the course or study on your own, then sit the exam.
Foundation = entry. Practitioner = specialisation in a single topic (Elicitation, Management, Modeling, RE@Agile). Specialist = applying the methods in your own project context, building on the Practitioner certificate.
Foundation and Practitioner: multiple-choice exam based on the relevant syllabus and handbook. Taken through recognised certifiers, not directly through IREB.
Yes, many certifiers offer online exams. Booking and delivery depend on the certifier.
According to IREB, a CPRE certificate is a lifelong proof of competence. No regular renewal is required.
AI4RE is a CPRE Micro-Credential for AI in requirements engineering. No formal prerequisites (IREB recommends CPRE Foundation knowledge). Content: AI in elicitation, documentation, validation, and management of requirements; limits, risks, data protection, human oversight. Once you pass: a digital badge, valid for three years.
At tecnovy the certification guarantee applies: if you fail, you get a free online retake. Condition: take the first exam within 24 hours of the training ending, so the material stays fresh and the risk does not sit with you.
The exam fee is charged by the certification body Future Network Cert and is not included in the training fee. Guideline prices (excl. VAT): CPRE Foundation around EUR 275, Practitioner modules around EUR 250 per module, Specialist Level around EUR 690. Exact fee shown at booking; current prices on future-network-cert.at.
Start with CPRE Foundation, specialise with a Practitioner module, or let the AI Suggester match you by role, background, and availability.
