ITIL is a framework for digital product and service management. It helps teams use shared terms, make value contributions visible, and steer services across their lifecycle more effectively.
Foundation is the entry point. You learn the core models and principles teams use to make decisions, structure collaboration, and embed improvement into everyday work.
The roles are cleanly separated: ITIL.com defines the framework and the curricula. Training providers like tecnovy deliver the training. PeopleCert examines and issues certificates.
Beyond Foundation, the ITIL scheme (Version 5) builds up. Eight Advanced modules (three Stream modules: Product, Service, Experience; three Practice modules: MSF, PIC, CAI, one of them selectable; plus Strategy and Transformation) combine into three designations: Practice Manager, Managing Professional, and Strategic Leader. All three designations together lead to the ITIL Master. AI Governance is a standalone extension module with no designation requirement. tecnovy focuses on the Foundation entry point.

The exam consists of 40 multiple-choice questions. You have 60 minutes. The exam is closed book. To pass, you need at least 65%.

ITIL Foundation Version 5 is the current entry point into ITIL Version 5. If you already hold ITIL 4 Foundation, there is a bridge path that focuses on the changes at the Foundation level.
