After this course, you know how to use generative AI purposefully in software testing. You can generate test cases and test data with large language models, write effective prompts for testing tasks, and assess risks like hallucinations and bias with confidence. The course prepares you directly for the official ISTQB® CT-GenAI certification exam.

Generative AI is changing how software teams work. Large language models can suggest test cases, analyse requirements, and summarise test results, faster than before and with far less manual effort. The ISTQB® CT-GenAI course shows you how to put these capabilities to work in your test process.
You learn how LLMs work and how to write and improve prompts for typical testing tasks. A dedicated section on prompt engineering gives you hands-on practice with few-shot prompting and other techniques to get better outputs from AI models.
The course also addresses the limits of generative AI. You learn to handle hallucinations, bias, and data privacy risks, and to critically evaluate AI-generated results. Energy consumption and regulatory requirements for AI systems are covered as well.
The final part focuses on how to introduce generative AI in your organisation, from building a roadmap to managing change. For an overview of all ISTQB® certification courses at tecnovy, visit our ISTQB® overview page.
The curriculum follows the official ISTQB® CT-GenAI syllabus v1.0 and is divided into five parts. It takes you from the fundamentals of generative AI through hands-on prompt engineering to the organisational adoption of AI in testing.
The CT-GenAI exam is taken at ISTQB® Specialist Level. It consists of 40 multiple-choice questions with a total of 46 points. A passing score of 30 points is required, corresponding to 65%. The exam lasts 60 minutes. Candidates sitting the exam in a non-native language receive a 25% time extension. The exam is held in English.
The exam can be taken directly after the course. A valid ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) certificate is required to sit the exam. On passing, you receive the official ISTQB® CT-GenAI certificate, recognised worldwide.
For more details on the certification, visit the official ISTQB® CT-GenAI page.
