AI for Project Managers

Project plan, meeting minutes and risk register are the raw material for the status report to the steering committee. An AI tool condenses them into a draft. You check dates and figures against those documents and decide which deviations the committee needs to hear about. Then the perspective turns: when the result of your project is itself an AI system, you plan around data risks, experiments and acceptance criteria of its own.

Curriculum

AI for Project Managers Course in Detail

Three parts: first you use AI in your own project tasks, then the course looks at what makes AI projects different, and finally at steering them through to acceptance. Each part works with exercises on case examples from projects.

01AI in everyday project work

This part shows how you prepare and check recurring project documents with AI.

  • Planning: drafts of work packages and schedules
  • Gathering risks and rating them yourself
  • Minutes and status reports from notes and project documents
  • Stakeholder communication for different audiences
02Understanding AI projects

Here the question is what sets apart a project whose result is an AI system.

  • Data: an AI model learns from training data, meaning examples
  • Uncertainty: results are not known before the project starts
  • Experiments as steps of their own in the project plan
  • Iterative planning in short loops you can review
03Steering AI projects

Finally you steer an AI project through to acceptance.

  • Success criteria an AI system can be measured against
  • The additional risks of AI projects
  • Governance: who decides about the AI system and who is accountable
  • Acceptance of an AI system

Outcome

What you will be able to do afterwards

  1. 01

You have AI draft a status report from the plan, minutes and risk register and check dates and figures against the sources.

  2. 02

You prepare a draft plan with AI and check its dependencies and effort assumptions yourself.

  3. 03

You gather project risks with AI and rate their likelihood and impact yourself.

  4. 04

You turn meeting notes into minutes with decisions and open items using AI.

  5. 05

You write project updates for different stakeholders with AI and check each one before it goes out.

  6. 06

You explain how dependence on data and uncertain results set an AI project apart from a conventional IT project.

  7. 07

You plan an AI project in iterations, with experiments as planning steps of their own.

  8. 08

You set success criteria, responsibilities and acceptance conditions for an AI project.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

01Do I need technical knowledge for AI for Project Managers?
You work on project plans and status reports in tecnovy's AI for Project Managers training without programming or AI knowledge. It does expect project management experience, and terms such as AI model or training data are explained during the course.
02Is the course about AI as a tool or about AI projects?
Both. In the first part of AI for Project Managers you use AI for planning, risks, minutes, status reports and stakeholder communication. The tecnovy training then turns to projects whose result is an AI system, from data and experiments to success criteria, governance and acceptance.
03What do I need for the exercises in AI for Project Managers?
The exercises in the tecnovy AI for Project Managers training need access to an AI tool that can summarise and draft text. You practise on case examples from projects.
04May I put documents from my own project into an AI tool?
Only if your company has approved the tool for such documents. Names in minutes or stakeholder lists are personal data and need a legal basis under the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), and budget or contract details may be confidential. In the tecnovy AI for Project Managers training you work on case examples.
05Will AI make my projects faster or cheaper?
The tecnovy AI for Project Managers training makes no such promise. You learn to prepare project documents with AI, check every draft against its sources and decide yourself what stands; whether that pays off in your project depends on your data, tools and rules.
06Is there an examination or a certification?
No, AI for Project Managers ends without an examination and is not a project management certification. With at least 80 percent attendance, tecnovy issues you a certificate of participation.
07Which tecnovy training fits after AI for Project Managers?
If you lead an AI initiative as its main owner, AI Manager fits: four days on an initiative of your own, with a business case and the optional P85 examination with Austrian Standards. If you plan AI for the whole organisation, the tecnovy AI Strategy & Transformation workshop fits, with roadmap, responsibilities and metrics.
08Can a whole PMO team take AI for Project Managers together?
Yes, tecnovy also runs AI for Project Managers as an inhouse training. Only your team takes part, for example a PMO together with the project leads it supports.
