IT training across Europe - tecnovy makes you future-ready.

tecnovy AI AI Manager

Responsibility for AI can now be evidenced. Austrian Standards certifies AI managers under ISO/IEC 17024, and the certificate counts towards the competence obligation in Article 4 of the AI Regulation. In this training you work on an AI initiative of your own: you test the data situation, calculate the return on investment, place the system within the risk-based approach of the AI Act and present the decision.

Fit

Who this module is designed for

Typical roles

  • You are responsible for an AI initiative and have to justify it to management and the business.
  • You assess AI systems for legal and ethical risk before they go into operation.
  • You decide which processes in the organisation are candidates for AI at all.

Prerequisites

No prerequisites

You can start right away. Helpful: a working understanding of AI from practice or from the two-day foundation module, an AI project idea of your own from your working environment.

Consider instead AI Practice and Management Two days of overview on AI adoption and the EU AI Act, without your own project and without an examination.

Curriculum

AI Manager Course in Detail

The four days run from AI potential in your own organisation through law and technology to project work, and end with a dress rehearsal for the examination presentation. Each block opens with a short input and moves straight into case work on your own initiative.

01Faster and better with AI

The opening block settles where AI actually helps in your organisation.

  • Spotting AI potential in your own processes and workflows
  • Anchoring AI strategically rather than case by case
  • Beyond LLMs: what belongs to AI besides language models
  • Use cases from organisations running AI in production today
02Law, risk and accountability

This part places your initiative legally before any technology is chosen.

  • Data protection, copyright and employment law in AI adoption
  • The risk-based approach of the EU AI Act and what it means for your system
  • Classifying AI systems, general purpose AI included
  • Ethical questions and their practical consequences in operation
03Technical foundations of AI

This part gives you the vocabulary you compare vendors and solutions with.

  • Machine learning and neural networks in outline
  • Generative AI and retrieval augmented generation
  • Prediction and anomaly detection as typical classes of task
  • Expert systems as the robust, rule-based alternative
04From idea to a successful AI project

Here your idea becomes a project plan with numbers attached.

  • Identifying AI projects and prioritising them by effort and return
  • From the data situation to an MVP, with the roles the team needs
  • CRISP-DM, FAB-4 and data maps as the working basis
  • Establishing AI across projects rather than in one corner
05Examination preparation and presentation

The final day is the dress rehearsal for the P85 examination.

  • Building the project presentation along the assessment criteria
  • Simulation: presenting with structured feedback
  • Case studies and feedback rounds across the three competence areas
  • Closing round and individual coaching on your own initiative

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

01Can I attend the training without sitting the examination?
Yes. The P85 examination is optional and the four days of the tecnovy AI Manager training stand on their own. You receive the tecnovy certificate of participation either way.
02How does the P85 examination work?
Two examiners from Austrian Standards conduct it over 40 minutes in total: up to 25 minutes to present your AI project and up to 15 minutes for three knowledge questions. The pass mark is 45 of 75 points.
03May I use notes or AI tools during the examination?
No. Certification scheme P85 prohibits every aid during the examination. Using an AI system such as ChatGPT is expressly classed as an attempt to deceive and results in a negative assessment.
04When can I sit the examination?
The date is arranged with Austrian Standards independently of the training. tecnovy recommends leaving at least three weeks after the course so that you can work out your project presentation properly.
05What does the certification cost?
Austrian Standards charges EUR 690 excl. VAT, EUR 828 including 20% Austrian VAT, for initial certification with one examination attempt. That fee is not part of the tecnovy training price. As of August 2026.
06What prior knowledge do I need?
None for the training itself. For the certification, Austrian Standards requires proof of at least 32 hours of relevant training or one year of professional experience with AI. Austrian Standards decides whether your evidence is sufficient when you register for the examination.
07How long is the certificate valid and how do I renew it?
The AI Manager certificate is valid for three years. To renew it you evidence 24 hours of relevant further training and your relevant work to Austrian Standards; recertification costs EUR 289 excl. VAT.
08How does this training differ from the two-day foundation module?
The foundation module gives overview and orientation in two days. This training spends four days on an initiative of your own, works through its business case and leads to the P85 certification; the foundation module leads to no examination.
