01Is the AB-620 training suitable for beginners?
No, the tecnovy AB-620 training assumes you have already set up simple agents in Copilot Studio with instructions, topics and knowledge sources. If you first want to work out, vendor-neutrally, where an agent fits, start with the tecnovy AI Agents Foundations course.
02What prior knowledge does Microsoft expect for AB-620?
Microsoft describes AB-620 candidates as familiar with Power Fx, Dataverse, Power Platform environments, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft Foundry and adaptive cards. They also need intermediate knowledge of generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and the Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol, plus experience with prompt engineering and REST APIs. None of this is a formal admission rule for the exam.
03How does the AB-620 exam work?
Microsoft delivers AB-620 through Pearson VUE, separately from the tecnovy training and in most cases online or at a test centre, as you prefer. Microsoft does not publish the number or types of questions in advance, but the exam sandbox shows the interface. During the exam you may open Microsoft Learn, with no extra time added (as of June 2026).
04Can I take AB-620 in German?
Yes, Microsoft offers AB-620 in 13 languages, including German and English (as of November 2026), and updates translated versions about eight weeks after the English one. If the exam is not offered in your preferred language and you are not proficient in the exam language, you can request 30 extra minutes before scheduling; Microsoft asks for a confirmation from an instructor or employer.
05What happens if I do not pass AB-620?
After a first failed attempt you can retake AB-620 after 24 hours, and after that 14 days must pass between attempts. Microsoft allows at most five attempts in twelve months, and a retake as a rule costs the exam fee again, which is not part of the tecnovy course price.
06Does AB-620 also test features that are still in preview?
Partly: according to Microsoft's AB-620 study guide, most questions cover generally available features, but commonly used preview features can appear. In the tecnovy training this applies to connecting agents from Microsoft Foundry and Microsoft Fabric, which Microsoft lists as public preview in Copilot Studio (as of October 2026).
07What do I need for the exercises in the AB-620 training?
For the hands-on exercises in the tecnovy AB-620 training you need access to Copilot Studio in a Power Platform environment where you can create agents, test them and add them to solutions.
08How does AB-620 differ from AI-103?
AB-620 tests how you build, extend and integrate agents in Copilot Studio and on the Power Platform. AI-103 leads to Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer Associate and is aimed at Azure AI engineers who develop with Python and Microsoft Foundry. This tecnovy training prepares you for AB-620 only.
09Where can I go after AB-620?
Microsoft Certified: AI Agent Builder Associate is one of the Associate certifications Microsoft accepts as a prerequisite for the Agentic AI Business Solutions Architect Expert (as of November 2026). For that Expert title Microsoft also requires exam AB-100, which covers agentic business solutions at the architecture level.
