EU AI Act for IT Teams: Technical Implementation

Record-keeping (Article 12), technical documentation (Article 11), human oversight (Article 14), accuracy and robustness (Article 15): the EU AI Act sets these requirements for high-risk AI systems. Disclosing AI interaction and marking AI-generated content (Article 50) applies to certain systems regardless of risk class. All of it gets built in development and operations. In one day you map each requirement to a phase of the software lifecycle.

Fit

Who this module is designed for

Typical roles

  • You develop AI systems or design the architecture they are embedded in.
  • You run the platforms, pipelines or infrastructure that AI systems operate on.
  • You hold technical responsibility for IT security or data protection and have to turn AI Act requirements into measures.

Prerequisites

No prerequisites

You can start right away. What you need: hands-on experience in development or architecture or in IT operations.

Consider instead EU AI Act For compliance, data protection and legal: roles, risk classes, obligations and a compliance structure for the whole organisation.

Curriculum

EU AI Act for IT Teams Course in Detail

Four parts in one day: first you work out which duties apply to a system at all. Then you go through the requirements for high-risk AI systems and the transparency duties article by article. Finally you anchor them in architecture, development, testing and operations.

01The Regulation from a technical angle

The opening part settles which duties apply to a system at all.

  • Providers, who develop an AI system or have it developed and place it on the market or put it into service under their own name, and deployers, who use it under their own authority
  • The risk classes at a glance
  • Two routes to high-risk: Annex I and Annex III
  • Transparency duties under Article 50 as a category of their own
02Requirements for high-risk AI systems

Here you work through the requirements of Chapter III Section 2 one by one.

  • Risk management (Article 9), data quality and data governance (Article 10)
  • Technical documentation (Article 11) and record-keeping (Article 12)
  • Accuracy, robustness and cybersecurity (Article 15)
  • Human oversight in system design (Article 14)
03Transparency duties

This part shows how people can tell that AI is involved.

  • Telling people that they are interacting with an AI system
  • Machine-readable marking of AI-generated audio, image, video and text content
  • Disclosure of deep fakes by deployers
04Implementation across the lifecycle

The closing part gives each requirement a task and a place in the process.

  • Anchoring requirements in architecture, development, testing and operations
  • Generating evidence automatically
  • The technical checklist for your own team

Outcome

What you will be able to do afterwards

  1. 01

You determine for an AI system whether your organisation is its provider or deployer and whether it counts as high-risk.

  2. 02

You check the training, validation and test data of a high-risk AI system against the quality criteria in Article 10.

  3. 03

You decide which parts of the technical documentation under Article 11 and Annex IV come from development and operations.

  4. 04

You plan which events a high-risk AI system records automatically over its lifetime (Article 12).

  5. 05

You design the intervention and stop mechanisms that let people oversee a high-risk AI system effectively (Article 14).

  6. 06

You derive from Article 15 which accuracy metrics to declare and which robustness and security tests to plan.

  7. 07

You plan the disclosure of AI interaction and the machine-readable marking of AI-generated content under Article 50.

  8. 08

You anchor the requirements in architecture, development, testing and operations and generate evidence automatically where possible.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

01Do these technical duties apply to every AI system?
No. The EU AI Act sets the requirements of Articles 9 to 15, among them risk management, data quality, technical documentation, record-keeping, human oversight and accuracy, robustness and cybersecurity, for high-risk AI systems only; Article 50 additionally covers certain systems, such as those that interact directly with people or generate synthetic content. In the tecnovy EU AI Act for IT Teams training you therefore first check which of these duties apply to a system at all.
02When do the AI Act high-risk requirements apply?
Not yet: Regulation (EU) 2026/1744, in force since 27 July 2026, postponed their start. As of November 2026 this applies from 2 December 2027 to Annex III systems and from 2 August 2028 to Annex I systems. In the tecnovy EU AI Act for IT Teams training you work out which annex applies: Annex III lists use areas such as employment or critical infrastructure, Annex I covers AI in products under EU product law, such as medical devices.
03Do the high-risk requirements also cover systems already in use?
Under the EU AI Act, as a rule only if a high-risk AI system placed on the market or put into service before the start date is significantly changed in its design afterwards (Article 111(2)). For high-risk AI systems intended to be used by public authorities, providers and deployers must meet the requirements by 2 August 2030 in any case.
04What does Article 50 require for AI-generated content, and by when?
Providers of AI systems that generate synthetic audio, image, video or text content must mark the outputs in a machine-readable format so they are detectable as artificially generated or manipulated; assistive functions for standard editing are among the exceptions. Article 50 has applied since 2 August 2026, and systems placed on the market before then must meet paragraph 2 by 2 December 2026 (as of November 2026). In the tecnovy EU AI Act for IT Teams training you plan where in a system that marking happens.
05What does the EU AI Act require for logging?
High-risk AI systems must technically allow events to be recorded automatically over their whole lifetime (Article 12). Providers and deployers keep the logs under their control for a period appropriate to the intended purpose, at least six months, unless Union law, in particular on data protection, or national law provides otherwise (Article 19 and Article 26(6)). In the tecnovy EU AI Act for IT Teams training you decide which events a system records and who keeps the logs.
06Does this affect us if we only use AI services?
Partly, yes: as a deployer, meaning anyone using an AI system under their own authority, you take measures to support the AI literacy of your staff (Article 4) and disclose deep fakes you generate with AI (Article 50(4)). For high-risk AI systems, Article 26 adds use in line with the instructions for use, human oversight by competent people, monitoring of operation and keeping the logs, among other duties. The tecnovy EU AI Act for IT Teams training covers the technical duties on both the provider and the deployer side.
08How does this course differ from the tecnovy EU AI Act training?
The tecnovy EU AI Act training is for compliance, data protection, legal and AI officers: there you determine roles and risk classes, derive obligations and plan a compliance structure for the organisation. The EU AI Act for IT Teams training starts from development and operations and turns the technical requirements into measures across the software lifecycle.
09Where do I go after EU AI Act for IT Teams?
For the security side, tecnovy offers Secure AI Architecture, where you plan security for AI systems from the threat model to the controls in operation. If you want to assess and manage AI risks with the NIST AI RMF and ISO/IEC 23894, that is the tecnovy AI Risk Management training.
