Scrum.orgProfessional Scrum Developer™ (PSD I): Scrum for Software Development with AI Practices
In a Sprint, the Definition of Done decides when work becomes part of the Increment, and the Developers make sure every change meets it. That is exactly where AI coding tools now join the work: in refinement, in writing code and tests, in review. In this training you deliver increments of a realistic software system as a Scrum Team over several Sprints, using TDD and continuous integration, and you hold AI-generated code to the same Definition of Done.
For developers, testers and architects in a Scrum Team: in the tecnovy PSD I training you deliver increments to a Definition of Done every Sprint, with TDD and continuous integration. tecnovy adds the part on AI coding tools.
How the training runs
Method
Several Sprints as a Scrum Team on a realistic software system
You develop, test or shape the architecture in a Scrum Team that delivers an Increment every Sprint.
You want to combine practices such as TDD and continuous integration with AI coding tools in your team.
You want to prove your knowledge of Scrum in software development with the Scrum.org PSD I certification.
Prerequisites
No prerequisites
You can start right away. What you need: knowledge of the Scrum Guide, hands-on experience in software development. Helpful: the free Scrum Open and Scrum Developer Open practice tests.
The course follows a backlog item from refinement to a verified Increment. Scrum.org sets the weighting itself: about 85 % of the PSD I questions come from Developing and Delivering Products Professionally. tecnovy closes with AI coding tools in the Sprint.
01Scrum for development teams
The opening sets out what Scrum asks of Developers and how to recognise a finished Increment.
Empiricism, the Scrum values, events and artifacts
The Definition of Done as the standard for every Increment
Self-management and cross-functional collaboration
02Backlog refinement and planning
This is where a requirement becomes work that fits into a Sprint.
Understanding requirements and slicing them into backlog items that fit a Sprint
Estimating work together as a team
Deriving Sprint and release forecasts from the team's own work
03Design, architecture and programming
Design emerges in the Sprint along with the code, not in a document beforehand.
Emergent design and architecture that grow with every Sprint
Clean code and refactoring on the running system
Pair programming on real tasks from the Sprint Backlog
04Quality and testing
Quality is built into every step instead of being checked at the end.
Test-driven development: the test first, then the code
Automated tests and agile testing within the Sprint
Continuous integration and delivery for every change
05AI in the Scrum Team
tecnovy adds this part: neither the Scrum.org course nor the PSD I assessment's Focus Areas name AI (as of November 2026).
You agree a Definition of Done with your team and deliver increments that demonstrably meet it.
02
You slice Product Backlog items in refinement so that each one can be done within a Sprint.
03
You estimate work together with your team and derive forecasts for the Sprint and the release.
04
You evolve design and architecture Sprint by Sprint instead of fixing them up front.
05
You write code test first and keep it maintainable through refactoring and pair programming.
06
You run automated tests in continuous integration so that every change is checked straight away.
07
You name technical debt in the code and make it visible to the Product Owner and the team.
08
You use AI coding tools in refinement, development, testing and review and check their output against the Definition of Done.

FAQs
Frequently asked questions
01Is the AI part included in the official Scrum.org course?
No, tecnovy adds the part on AI coding tools to its PSD training; the Scrum.org course Applying Professional Scrum for Software Development does not list AI among its topics. Nor do the Focus Areas Scrum.org draws the PSD I questions from (as of November 2026).
02Can I take the PSD I assessment without the course?
Yes, Scrum.org requires no course and sells a single attempt for USD 200. The tecnovy PSD training includes the first attempt, and Scrum.org grants a free second one under certain conditions.
03What happens if I do not pass the PSD I assessment?
If you took the PSD I assessment with the free password from the official course within 14 days of receiving it and scored under 85 %, Scrum.org gives you a second attempt at no extra cost. Every further attempt costs USD 200 at Scrum.org.
04What does the PSD I assessment test?
According to Scrum.org, about 85 % of the PSD I questions come from Developing and Delivering Products Professionally: refinement, design, programming, quality and testing. The rest covers core Scrum concepts, and you have 60 minutes for 80 questions with an 85 % pass mark.
05Which language is the PSD I assessment in?
Scrum.org offers the PSD I assessment in English only. The Google Translate plugin is allowed if you follow Scrum.org's instructions for it; Scrum.org does not guarantee the quality of the translation.
06Can the whole Scrum Team attend the PSD training?
Yes, Scrum.org aims the course at every member of a Scrum Team, Scrum Masters and Product Owners included. Scrum.org says it gives most when the team attends together; people who come alone still work in a Scrum Team during the tecnovy PSD training.
07Do I get PMI PDUs for the PSD training?
Yes, Scrum.org lists 21 PDUs for the three-day course. You earn them for attending, not for passing the PSD I assessment, and claim them with PMI as education from a third-party provider.
08Is the PSD training available for our company alone?
Yes, tecnovy also runs the PSD training exclusively for one company. According to Scrum.org, such a class can be set up on the technology stack your team works with.
09How does the PSD training differ from AI-Assisted Software Development for Teams?
The tecnovy PSD training practises Scrum and engineering practices in Sprints and leads to the Scrum.org PSD I assessment. tecnovy's AI-Assisted Software Development for Teams ends without an examination and sets out how a team uses AI from requirements to operations.
What does your training at tecnovy look like?
