01Do I need to have taken the beginners course first?
No: if you use Copilot Chat and agent mode regularly and are confident with pull requests and branches, you can start straight in the tecnovy GitHub Copilot Advanced training. If you mostly accept Copilot suggestions with Tab so far, GitHub Copilot for Beginners is the better start.
02Which Copilot plan do the exercises need?
Copilot Free is not enough for the tecnovy GitHub Copilot Advanced training, because it includes neither Copilot working on issues on GitHub nor Copilot code review; both come with plans such as Pro, Pro+, Max, Business and Enterprise. Organization-level instructions and the MCP servers policy exist only with Copilot Business or Enterprise, and rulesets need access to the repository settings (as of November 2026).
03How does Copilot work on an issue on GitHub?
You assign the issue to Copilot, which works in the background, opens a pull request and requests your review; you ask for changes in a comment mentioning @copilot. GitHub launched the feature as Copilot coding agent, now calls it Copilot cloud agent, and since 28 October 2026 has bundled it into Copilot in the cloud for paid plans. In the tecnovy GitHub Copilot Advanced training you practise this on the sample repository.
04Does Copilot code review replace human reviews?
No: GitHub states that Copilot's reviews do not count toward a pull request's required approvals by default, and that Copilot is not guaranteed to spot every problem (as of November 2026). In the tecnovy training you decide what Copilot checks first and where your team makes the call.
05Does this work with Copilot Business or Enterprise?
Yes, Copilot Business and Enterprise include work on GitHub, Copilot code review and MCP, but enterprise and organization owners decide through policies which features your members may use. The MCP servers policy is disabled there by default, and cloud work requires repositories hosted on GitHub (as of November 2026); the tecnovy training covers these policies in the part on team rollout.
06What is MCP, and where does Copilot use it?
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard through which AI applications reach external tools and data. According to GitHub, Copilot supports MCP servers in VS Code and other IDEs, in Copilot CLI, and at repository level for work on GitHub (as of November 2026); in the tecnovy training you connect a server and assess its permissions.
07Is there an examination or a certification?
No. The tecnovy GitHub Copilot Advanced training has no examination, and GitHub awards no certification for it. If you attend at least 80% of the time, you receive the tecnovy certificate of participation.
08Which tecnovy courses go deeper on single topics?
Two tecnovy workshops go further: Code Review with AI builds a review workflow from several specialised AI agents that check pull requests for security, tests and architecture. MCP Servers in the Coding Environment connects ticket systems, documentation and databases to Claude Code and GitHub Copilot through MCP.
