01Is a CompCert a CompTIA certification?

No. CompTIA explicitly calls AI Essentials a training course rather than a certification exam; the CompCert (Competency Certificate) evidences the skills from an Essentials course. Certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Security+ are earned in a separate exam at Pearson VUE.

02How does a CompTIA Competency Assessment work?

The Competency Assessment is built into the CompTIA self-paced course and completes it; passing it earns the CompCert as a downloadable competency certificate. CompTIA describes its Competency Assessments as 25 scenario-based multiple-choice questions and publishes no pass mark (as of November 2026).

03What do I need for the two CompCerts?

For the CompCerts in AI Essentials and AI Prompting Essentials you need access to both CompTIA self-paced courses, because the Competency Assessments are built into them. CompTIA gives about 2 to 3 hours for AI Essentials and 6 to 8 hours for AI Prompting Essentials; access to AI Essentials runs through CompTIA Central for 12 months from activation.

04What language are the CompTIA courses and assessments in?

CompTIA offers AI Essentials and AI Prompting Essentials, including their Competency Assessments, in English only (as of November 2026). The tecnovy training runs in the language of the date you book.

05Do I need prior knowledge for CompTIA AI Essentials?

No. CompTIA designed AI Essentials and AI Prompting Essentials for beginners with no AI experience, and AI Essentials is not a prerequisite for AI Prompting Essentials.

06Which AI assistants do we use in the training?

In the tecnovy training for CompTIA AI Essentials you practise with ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini. The CompTIA course topics refer to AI chatbots in general, not to one product.

07How does this training differ from AI Literacy?

Both tecnovy trainings teach the basics of using AI assistants in one day. AI Literacy puts more weight on the EU AI Act and ends with the tecnovy certificate of participation; the CompTIA AI Essentials training also prepares you for the two CompTIA Competency Assessments.

08Does the training prepare me for a CompTIA certification?

No, not for a specific certification exam: CompTIA sees AI Essentials as a foundation for further AI courses such as AI Prompting Essentials. If you want a CompTIA certification with an exam and are starting from IT basics, tecnovy offers training for CompTIA Tech+.
